Francisco Park is a planned new park on 4-acre site in San Francisco, near North Beach and Russian Hill. This is a public-private partnership. The Reservoir on site has long been abandoned. David Crimmins serves on the volunteer committee tasked with creating what will be a significant new park for San Francisco. Against all odds it's a success. The steps completed by the committee: 1.) developing a schematic plan and gaining consensus amongst local groups and the district Supervisor. 2.) With leadership from the Supervisor, brokering a deal to transfer the land from the Water Company to the City. 3.) Raising private money to fully cover the cost of construction of the park, mandated by the Board of Supervisors. 4.) Facilitating negotiations with the SF Rec & Parks Department regarding the long-term operating protocol and private endowment fund. 5.) Public forums to gain consensus and feedback for the final architectural plans for the new Park. please click here for more info..
